Farup Sommerland prepares for something wild: A hurricane will run over the park’s area in 2013. But thankfully, this one will definitely bring pleasure instead of storm warnings. The rather family-orientated amusement park located in Nordjylland just announced that a new roller coaster named “Orkanen”, the Danish word for hurricane, will be the new attraction for the next year’s season.
Manufactured by the Dutch roller coaster company Vekoma, “Orkanen” will be the 6th roller coaster at Farup Sommerland and take its riders on a wild trip. Sitting under the track in very comfortable suspended seats, similar to those of “Jimmy Neutron Atomic Flyer” at Movie Park Germany, “Orkanen” will climb nearly 20 metres up in the air and reach a maximum speed of 75 kilometres per hour. With its 453 metres long course, which winds its way back to the station mostly close to the ground due to height restrictions, it becomes Denmarks longest suspended roller coaster and because of the many twists and turns at ground level, riders probably will experience an even more thrilling and fast ride. One highlight will be a tunnel right at the end of the first drop, running below the ground and through the water.
